Hey all. I'm looking for recommendations for a yard care company. It would be for a residence, and a fairly small yard. I don't need mowing, but I need someone who can do some initial whipping into shape, remove some bark, install some rock, do some spring cleanup, fertilize, install a dripline, possibly some dethatching of the lawn, etc, and then visit once a month to pull weeds and keep it in shape. I'm in West Boise.

I work at a property management office, but our tenants have to do their own yard care, and my boss does any necessary yard care on the properties when they are vacant, and I don't really want to hire him for my own house. I've always just done it myself, but I neither enjoy it, nor am any good at it, and my yard always looks "meh". We have a plug in mower and the yard takes <15 minutes to mow/edge, so I just need some initial work and then about 6 visits over the spring/summer/fall.

I'm not looking to spend thousands on my yard (it really is a small yard), but I am willing and able to pay what is fair for the work and materials. I want an established, licenced, knowledgeable company, who is going to show up as promised, and who knows which plants to plant where, and why the flowers planted in my front yard won't bloom anymore, etc, not someone who has some free time and wants to earn some extra cash this summer. Along the same vein, I want a company who sends the knowledgeable person out on site, not one who sends out a college kid with instructions to call the boss if he has a question.

Anyone know of a company that fits that list, or use someone yourself you are happy with?

I put a call out to my fellow Group One agents last year for a landscaper and got referred to James with Cut Right Care, Home - Cut Right Care. I hired him to maintain the yard at my duplex property and have since used him to get a couple of listings into shape. He's fair and honest and has been proactive with recommendations without suggesting anything unnecessary. He is very hardworking and earnest and I've been happy with his service. I'm not sure if he can do some of the landscaping you require or not.

For full-service, gold-standard landscaping/weeding/sprinklers/mowing/maintenance, etc. you can't go wrong with Terra Vita, Terravita Landscaping - Landscape Design, Installation, Renovation and Maintenance in the Boise Metro area.. They were a bit more expensive than Cut Right and for my rental property, it wasn't worth the cost. But I know people who have them maintain their landscapes and they do amazing work. They are definitely a cut above when it comes to planning, planting and maintaining shrubs and perennials and flower beds. Weeding is done by hand--their work is impeccable.

Thanks benchfan, Terravita sounds like the sort of company I am looking for. Anyone else had any experiences with them or anyone else?
