Honestly, you would never know if the news didn't need to create stories.

I will also add, given Idaho's propensity for gun ownership and concealed carry... some gangbanger is going to stick up the wrong person someday.

Hp1167, with all due respect. If you knew what to look for, one would realize we do have a gang problem. You're right, some gangbanger is going to stick up the wrong person one day.

If you want to see a visible gang presence go to Arizona or California. Gangs in Idaho are laughable, they must truly be underground because I never see anyone that looks like they are in a gang. Boise is a very safe place and a story like KTVB just did is fear mongering.

Maybe this link will help. Gangs are much more organized here - more about the drugs - We are nothing like Arizona or California in terms of the violence. Home and tagging.

Some of that story is right on - Boise is a place that can be easy prey. I mean, a lot of people don't even lock their doors.

But on the other hand, there is no where I fear going in Boise, and no persons I fear encountering. I assume everyone is friendly or at least civil. If there are gangs and gang activity it's hardly visible. Maybe that's best for them.

I will say this... unlike in California and a few other places, the citizens carrying weapons far outnumber the gangbangers. I doubt we will stand to live in fear like it has happened in certain areas in other parts of the country.

This entire news story is sensationalism put together by a local news station that loves to come up with over the top stories. Quick everyone, run for the hills because the gangbangers are going to get us. I do not think I have ever seen any signs of gangbangers or even people who look like gangbangers in the years I have lived in Boise. Remember, this is the same news station that showed close up photos of the Couger that was shot yesterday. They like ratings folks.
