Default Can You Say Illegals!

Yes California will continue to grow because all of the ten year old kids of illegals will ecah have sevral babies in the next twenty years! It's not because people are moving in, you have millions of illegals each with 12 children who will have another eight in seven to ten years. It's tough because I moved from California (REDLANDS) three years ago to Las Vegas, but there is sooo much that I miss. And yet when I think of the traffic the millions of illegals and what will FOR SURE be in the next twenty years, there is nothing there worth me EVER coming back!

California grew by nearly 3 million in the past 10 years. Only Texas came close. In the next 10 years, it's projected to grow by 7 million. No other state is projected to even come close.

So are people moving out as fast as they are moving in? Not likely. It just doesn't make sense. There is no logic in such a statement. Clearly, people are moving *TO* California--not out.

You also can't single out Idaho. Every state exhibited growth in the last 10 years. Immigration out of control perhaps? It's certainly not the birth rate.

So get it out of your heads. Californians are not the root of all evil in Idaho!

Being from the South (and currently living in California), I think this is one of the things I most appreciate about California. There are people of all religions and they are all treated fairly. You also have the opportunity to learn about all the different religions. It's really quite inspiring. I wish all areas were like this.

Working and living in Idaho for over ten years I did find a lot of discrimination against non LDS people. I even lost a job because I would not volunteer free over time to print LDS material. The reason given for the firing was I was not cut out for the job I was in. yet I had been in it for over 13 years with great reviews and was working again less then a day later for others that said I was great at my job . Just like some one other stated there are no signs in the windows and doors saying how they are you just get a feeling over time.

The reasons listed above are precisely why I now have splurged to live in an overpriced conservative Orange County coastal town. There will be NO ILLEGALS multiplying in my "hood." If I had a choice I probably would move into the hills above LA, but NO CHANCE THERE. Today, I would only be happy up there if I was A. in a gang B. loved violence or C. owned Paramount.

With everything going on these days, it's difficult to figure out where to go. My California memories, for the most part, are a big part of who I am. It's what I identify with. Unfortunately, to find another part of the country that even somewhat compares to life, as I knew it there, has been very difficult.
gmmhastings, You will never find another place in this world like Cali! I grew up in the Ojai, Ventura and Santa Barbara area at a place called Casitas Dam. We had horses tons of pets and went fishing every day after school. We were 20 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from 10,000' peaks.

I have lived in Idaho for 15 yrs and it has been as close to hell as I want to get. Not every one here is a jerk but the majority that I have run into especially on the Eastern side of the state are very judgemntal and they can't stand ppl from Cali. I am proud to be a Californian and to have grown up in a state with so many different cultures and lifestyles. Here in ID my children have been treated very poorly due to their race, Shoshone-Navajo but where I grew up they would be just another Cali kid.

Idaho is a beautiful place to visit but unless you have a very tough skin I wouldn't recommend living here.

Cool unfriendly Idaho

I DO BELIEVE Idaho is a very hard place to make friends. After living here for 14 years I can count the friends on one hand. Being from Cali. I knew the whole town I grew up the northern part. Its funny how people think Cali. people are greedy, unfriendly, and want to change everything. This is not true about the ones born and raised there they love their families and desire the same things most Idahoians do.
What I find funny in Idaho we are in living in country and people are not greeting you as a new neighbor or inviting you over for a meal and if you do the same for them they act like you are up to something.
The times we have been invited to dinner are from people who have moved from Northern Cali. and they see the same problems. People are people it dosen't matter were your from Its how you were raised.
I have no intenions of leaving Idaho its better then the policys of Cali. and the overcrowding. The Californians who love it there need to get out and VOTE for the people who will clean up your state get rid of the ones who are giving it away to MEXICO. I have seen way to many postings saying MEXICANS (from them) are here to take back California and you offer the best welfare in the country.

Why not move there if you really don't want to work and just enjoy the beautiful weather!!!!!

I'm LDS. I would like to share a story that is often told in our church. I may not have all the details correct. But I think you will get the drift.

In a Mormon settlement long time ago. There came a Baptist minister. He had no where to give his sermon. The elders gave him a building to hold services in. The minister said he had no choir to sing, the elders loaned him a mormon choir, he said he had no baptist to give a sermon too. The elders sent members to hear the sermon.

This story is told often. It is meant to teach members the view of the church that we are not to talk badly about other churches and to respect other religions and their members. Just as we are also taught to obey the law of the land.

I'm a convert in CA. My husband was raised in the church as was his parents before him. I have never tried to convert anyone. I do enjoy the very strong family first statement, from the church. As in most religions we do look for new members. But I don't see that as any different from the other religious folks that come knocking on our door It is a part of most religions to look for new members.

I think sometimes members hang out with each other more than others is because we are so often disapproved of by other religions. It is easier to hang out with folks that are not picking your religion apart. Almost all my friends are non-members. But we respect each other enough not to bad mouth each others religion.

Here in CA I don't get that much. We are such a melting pot of other religions. CA has a strong approach in schools, public places and in employment of non-religion conflicts. Or singling out based on religion. Folks who do it...don't do it for long.

This is not a religous site. But the questions are asked. and I have seen many other threads that bring up the LDS.

Hope this is an insight to a very average family, that is LDS.

Izzy
The key word in your message is that you are a "convert in CA". That makes a huge difference in how you treat others and thier beliefs. Here in ID I married an LDS man whos family has a huge problem with me cuz I am from CA. They told him and many others that I am a **** that will lead him down the road to perdition. They say all of this without trying to find out who I am or where I came from. My father is a minister with the Church of Christ in CA and talk about a strict religion. For the past 15 yrs I have been treated horribly by the LDS ppl here in ID but I have heard from my husband, who drives long haul, that the LDS on the East coast are very different. Some one told him that if you take a string and place on end of it on Salt Lake, on a map of course, and have the string eqaul 400 miles, take it and make a 400 mile circle around Salt Lake and that is where the UT/ID LDS ppl end and you get treated better outside that 400 mile circle.

The LDS ppl are taught to stick to their own, read their own books and not to go to another's church. They are taught to not question thier belief or thier elders and just to follow what is told to them. My husband would sit and quote LDS scripture to me without even knowing what it really meant till I would get out my Bible and make him read the whole chapter and not just one paragraph. His eyes were opened to the truth and now he questions what is told to him.

I am not religious at all, you will never catch me in a church again. I do not believe in organized religion and I believe that we should all be left alone to belive what we want, isn't that why this country was founded?
