Where is your husband going to be working? Are you interested in any outlying areas?

Curious if you know if there are builders with a generally good reputation? I won't be looking for big/fancy but something well buikt/low maintenance.

There is no need to be "wary" of Hubble Homes...they build a quality product. Their homes are a by product of an efficient and predictiable building process & schedule. It's too bad people talk about something they have no knowledge of. Do a little research---I recomend going to the source---

I do have knowledge of Hubble Homes, they do suck, it's not just talk. I build homes. In what it would take us a month to build, they build in three days. You cannot build a sufficient home that will last in three days. Be wary, be very wary.

Plus Hubble Homes are just plain ugly. My real estate agent warned me to never even think of buying a Hubble Home, the resale of those houses is next to impossible.

I would like some more information and I am open to any info that anyone can give me about the area which would be of some help. Thank you!

if you like boring, cookie-cutter subdivisions, than you will love meridian. i am sorry, but meridian is nothing more than a giant strip mall with drab "craftsman" homes.

there is nothing distinguishing about meridian other than the ridiculous traffic, and trust me i am not kidding and this is from a person who has lived in chicago, minneapolis, and honolulu to name a few.

p.s. i love boise!

Default Meridian is a good place to be!

When I moved here a few years back, we first bought in Meridian. Its in the center of the valley and that helps when you're traveling all over deciding where to build your "dream house". You mentioned you've found a lease option to buy, that can be a good way to buy provided you hammer out all the details in the contract. Price, rent credit, length of term, etc.... are all items you want in writting.

As far as Schools, we are in the Meridian School district and are very happy with what we've experienced. The area is growing so fast there are new schools going up all over the place. Meridian just opened a new High School a couple of years ago, and its already bursting at the seams. Thankfully a new one is being built, but I dont know it's opening date.

We did end up building a couple of years ago in an outer lying area, but still in the same school district. We turned our Meridian home into a rental for a while, and then cashed out big time last year when the market was hot.

All told, it was a great move for us to come here. Good luck with your move, and welcome to the treasure valley.
