Garden City is like a little slice of New Jersey surrounded by the city of Boise. Full of used car lots, warehouses, light manufacturing, dive bars, and cheap hotels.

There are some cool little spots in Garden City, they have 3 micro-breweries, a climbing gym and access to the Boise river.

Just don't get me started on the Garden City Police department though.

You could easily live in Boise and walk or bike to work in Garden City if you pick somewhere near the Greenbelt.

Garden City is pretty centrally located, not much more than a 15 minute commute from most areas of Boise.

That article was alittle weird. Is it actually bad or what. Back east we have some really bad places like Camden or North Philly. Is the area that bad?

When I was a driving a friend from Phoenix who was visiting through Garden City I told him that we were in Boise's "hood". He laughed and said I wasn't serious. Took me a while to convince him that GC was the worst part of town. Compared to bad neighborhoods in any other metro area, Garden City comes across as almost upscale. But if you grew up in Boise and had never seen what a real seedy area of a town looks like you would thing that GC is pretty bad.

Not even comparable to Camden.

I live in Garden City near the library and post office as well as the river. It is a great area. I much prefer it to many neighborhoods I have been through in Boise. I couldn't ask for a better location, safe area, close to shopping, theater, restaurants.

Why, we must be close to being nieghbors! We're probably less than a mile from the Garden City library, and I agree that we have everything we pretty much need being in the location that we are. We are very happy in this area and feel we don't really have to go downtown (Boise) unless we want to. Great area!!
