Building a Garage Suggestions (Boise: city hall, home, theater)

I did a search on building a garage but didn't find anything. I'm wondering if anyone has built a garage (two-car) and what it costs, the time frame, whether you were satisfied with the builder and any suggestions for finding a good builder.

I have narrowed my search for a home down to a few locations and now need information on adding a garage since none of my selections seem to have enough garage space to meet my needs.

Sure would appreciate any help you can offer.

The planning department at the City of Boise (assuming you are looking in Boise) is hugely helpful with questions like this. I drop by their department in City Hall (across from the Egyptian Theater on Capital Blvd) whenever I have a question like this about a property or for my own property. Their planners can walk you through the process and answer any questions you have.

I recently asked a contractor for a ballpark number on constructing a basic garage and it was something like $30,000. I suspect if someone wanted to research it and act as their own general contractor, they could do it for a lot less.
