Default Is Boise Right For You?

If you like driving fast, road rage, riding on peoples's bumpers for only going the speed limit, flicking people off, and being a complete idiot THEN BOISE IS'NT FOR YOU

If you have to blast your radio in your house all nite long, blast it every where you go, think that your living the thug life that your songs talk about
THEN BOISE IS'NT FOR YOU

If you have a shaved head, tatoos (with the number 13), baggy pants, with a blue or red rag hanging out your pocket
THEN BOISE IS'NT FOR YOU

If you are tired of people tailgating, never using there blinkers, when you use your blinker they speed up, and getting cut off for no reason
THEN COME TO BOISE

If you like a slower pace of life, where everyone's not trying to kill each other over the number one spot up front at the red light
THEN COME TO BOISE

If you are tired of not having trust worthy neighbors, not being able to buy AR15'S (with a 100 round clip)<he-he> , and being able to protect your self THEN COME TO BOISE

I could go on and on but i'm sure you guys are getting the point. If your not sure then just stop waiting around and take a few days off and check it out. I only spent 2 weeks out there and I knew this is the place for me. Call the local police in advance and explain to them your plans and you can set up a ride along to see what really goes on. And believe me not much. And while your here pick up some news papers and watch the news at 9 pm every nite on FOX12. I was so surprised at how little crime goes on out there, and everyone treats each other with the up most respect. This could very well be one of the last places in the USA with true AMERICANS.

It's what we've been saying all along on here. So thanks for your thoughts, it's great to hear an outsider give their perspective.

Well, I'm sold. I just hope that the jobs that are supposed to come up there for my husband in May or June do. And that the housing market here stays pretty good so we can sell. It'll be a long haul from VA with 4 horses but well worth it. We only ended up here due to employment. The rudeness and pushy people here are too much for this small town country girl.

I disagree about everything posted re: traffic and traffic attitudes.

There are other posts previously made in this forum on this very topic.

Oh, yes - come to Boise! We have no traffic or crime! Drugs, poverty and homelessness do not even exist here and the weather is perfect every day of the year! And don't worry - all of us "true AMERICANS" are banding together to run the last of the fast-driving, loud-music-listening, baggy-pants-wearing, tattoed tailgaters with shaved heads out of town. Soon Boise will be our own little paradise here on earth...

What happens to someone who leaves prison and goes back to the hood? They love it because they are free again.

What happens when I leave LA for 2 weeks?

1) Every time I used my blinker they let me over.
2) Every time I drove on the freeways 95% of people drive safe and the speed limit.
3) Every one I seen treats each other with respect.

Maybee my advice is bad because here in LA 95% of people speed, tailgate, and throw up hand gesters but when I pull them over they cry like little babys telling me how sorry they are. But then again officers being shot at are up 39% this year alone. Maybee Im lucky but one day luck will run out, and Im not staying around to wait. No where is perfect but coming from a big city to Boise seems like Heaven. I love the area and the people are all so nice. But one day i'll get old and i'll get back on here and complain about traffic and gangs and drugs. I'll say something like this " I remember back in the good ol days like in 2007 there was'nt any problems like now". <kidding>

Dooder, coming from LA you're seeing things with rose colored glasses.

Traffic is certainly better up here than down there. We don't have 5+ lanes of traffic continually congested and going from stand still to 85 mph in a matter of seconds. But Idahoans are notorious for being horrid drivers, especially during the winter.

Our rush hours are just as frustrating because we have fewer ways to get home. The freeway/connector coming from Nampa is clogged from 7 to 9 am, and from 3:30 to 6 pm going back. Especially now, as there's always construction.

I84 is notorious for being a freeway of death - there literally is one or two rollover fatalities a week on it, mostly because a) people don't pay attention, b) the differing attitudes and driving styles.

There is a contingent of people who are content to go as slow as they please, drive in whatever lane they please, cut you off without paying attention, or just aren't able to judge speeds accurately. Combined with those that drive the speed limit and responsibly, and those that are in a hurry to get everywhere and drive super aggressively, it's a death march most of the time.

I've driven in just about every state in the US, and besides SLC there is no other place I'm truly afraid to drive. Just the other day I was going to Nampa and I was trying to switch lanes so I could let merging traffic in. It was stop and go traffic, and as soon as I put my blinker on and found some space, the guy behind sped up and forced his way past me. This happens EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Dig up that old thread on driving in Boise. You'll find a lot of those that agree with me. Initially it'll seem amazing coming from LA, but that novelty soon wears off, especially when you're dealing with the Connector/I84, and/or State St, and/or Eagle and Meridian Road on a daily basis.

People here don't know how to drive.

And to think there won't be kids speeding along in rice burners through quiet neighborhoods with their ghetto blasters blazing is just naive.

Also, in just this past week we've had 4 pedestrians hit. One older lady was hit and killed in North Boise, and another lady was hit in west Boise.

More disturbingly two children have been hit - a 3 year old and a 13 year old walking to school.

It's getting nuts how frequent this crap is.
