We're looking at the Meridian area as a possible place to relocate due to low crime, friendly neighbors... all the things that make it such a great place. I have three school-aged kids and it seems the Boise/Meridian area has a lot to offer for choices. The kids have been in private Christian school, but we'd like to transition them to something tuition-free as we are needing to cut down on costs and tuition is expensive. Does anyone know of a list anywhere of the school options for the Boise/Meridian area? I've looked online but can't find one. Also, are the public schools pretty good there? Any info would be appreciated!

Default tuition

Is tuition the only reason you'd look at a public school? We are at a Christian school and absolutely love it compared to the Meridian district. Let me know if you want specific information and I can help you out.

Meridian's school district covers Meridian, Eagle, West Boise and some unincorporated parts of Ada County (technically Joint School District No. 2). It's the largest district in the state and as such you'll get some varied opinions, but the general consensus is that it's pretty good. Being a large district, you'll have some newer more affluent areas and some older less affluent areas - just like in Boise.

As far as ratings go...

Obviously ratings like this aren't perfect but it at least gives you an idea.

My kids aren't in school yet but I'm very comfortable with them going to the schools they're slotted for in Meridian.

I've had experience with three different schools in the Meridian district. I've found both the faculty and administration consistently unprofessional and condescending to parents. I would never again put my children in any of their schools. I've found Boise District, OTOH, to be very professional and much more to my liking. Even my kids like it better, and I've asked them impartially which they preferred.

Hi, Im looking for some info on christian middle schools near Star or Middleton. I would like to live more in the rural areas of boise but only like a 10 minute commute to more city life for job/shopping. A good school that is good with children with needs like ADHD, speech impairement etc is really important to me and will definetly make or break what area I will live in. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Had my kids at a fairly challenging traditional school in Arizona and then moved into the Meridian district. They never did much homework, got straight A's and breezed through school. Moved back to Arizona and put them back into a rigorous charter school and they struggled to catch up for the first half of the school year. My impression is that the schools in Meridian aren't bad, but they are not great either. Pretty much straight up average.

In the elementary school they were in, seemed like all of their teachers were fresh out of college. Wasn't till middle school that I saw teachers who appeared to have taught for longer than 5 years.
