I love WinCo! Slowly they're opening up in SoCal. I've taken some friends and they got so excited over it. Hahaha. For those that don't know WinCo is known for having a lot of BULK products...candy, dried fruits, spices, etc.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Winco too! My neighbor works at their Corporate Headquarters here in Boise.
On another note, what do you all think of the 'possibility' of snow on the valley floor on Wednesday??? |

It snowed, or hailed pretty hard today actually. At least it did downtown.

I live downtown, and it was just raining.... like I posted in another thread. I love the way that rain happens here.. I moved here from seattle where storms would just sit and drizzle for weeks on end.. where as here it swoops in dumps rain.. and then is off.. I mean it was raining quite a bit yesterday.. and by evening time it had cleared up and today is absolutely beautiful.

Reason #341 why springs are terrible here:
Why is it warmer in February than it is in March and April? |

I was very happy to see cases of Mexican Coca-Cola in glass bottles finally make their way into our local Costcos. I had been pushing them for awhile, so I'd like to think I had at least some miniscule effect on this. They've already been in many Costcos up and down the west coast. I figured the high gringo quotient might have not made it an attractive an area to sell it in the past. I was pushing to at least get it in the Nampa store given the heavier Latino population, but they're selling it in both local stores.
Mexican Coke is the way they used to make it in the old days-- with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. No filmy aftertaste and you feel that initial "pop" in your mouth when you start to drink it (hence the term "soda pop"). The only mainstream soda company to use sugar is Jones Bros. (their non-diet stuff). I don't like their cola though, and I can only find it in cans, which doesn't taste as good compared to from a glass bottle (you can find some Jones Bros. flavors in bottles, but it's much more expensive). I was big on gourmet soda while in CA, although I've slowed down here given the higher costs and fewer options. You can get bottles of Mexican Coke/Sprite/Pepsi/7-Up/etc. at the Mexican markets here, but they've cost more than I expected ($2 for a half-liter). I'm excited it's at Costco finally because it's a real bargain there-- $18 for a case of 24 11.5 oz. bottles. If you're a Costco member and like good soda, I hope you support them. I'm afraid they're going to test it out here and decide it's not worth keeping. |
