Hey locals.
Where can I take the kids to go for a nice "mellow" sled ride or to play in the snow? I have a vision of a nice meadow like area with a small hill that the kids can play on. Where should we go? I don't want to spend more than an hour driving.

We tried Bogus, but it was a bust. I did not find any place that I could just pull over and let the kids play. We ended up in a snow drift near the employee parking area. ugh.

We were thinking of heading North on 55 ... or should we go up past Lucky peak ...?

I am open to any and all suggestions. My kids are little so we are seeking something mild and uncrowded.

Well, it's going to take 45 minutes to an hour to get to the snow anyway, depending on where you are.

I know of some places on the backroads on the way to Bogus, or beyond Robie or Shafer. But not much for kids, and it takes some exploring to get to.

I'm not sure of something nice and easy that's also close. Just take one of the roads that head higher in elevation and look for something mellow (and public).

Thx, Anchor ...
After a little more research I found a couple of locations.
I've also heard that if people have found a little piece of heaven, they like to keep it secret ...

Well, that tends to be the case for a lot of things (hunting spots, hot springs, mountain bike trails, camping sites, fishing spots, backcountry snowboarding), but I'm not sure it applies to tubing hills.

The spots I go to are pretty gnarly, both to get to and going down. Certainly not for kids.

There are some great family spots down by Twin Falls I could guide you to, if you're interested. But that's about 2 hours away.

Alley, check out the Eagle Skateboard Park. Very close to your home and a fun place to hike and hang out, as well as sled when there is snow.
