California Carl will become famous soon enoughCalifornia Carl will become famous soon enough
Hollywood, the ocean, a Trader Joes, Disneyland, an In & Out Burger, the abolishment of "Right to Work" a Democrat for Governer, Larry Craigs final farewell party. Wider bathroom stalls in the Men's Room to help prevent unsolicited advances when he retires. Or how about a real Mexican Restaurant. Another big mall with Nordsroms and Neiman Marcus. More people, a wider freeway plus better public transportation. Maybe NASCAR, maybe a big league baseball team. Or more car dealers. Someone like Safeway, Vons or Raleys to compete with Albertsons. Better yet, bring them all! Perhaps the abolishment of sales tax on our food. The implication of Prop 13, but please, PLEASE I beg of you... NO MORE CALIFORNIANS' they keep trying to change everything!

a Trader Joes - Meh. It'll be here soon enough.

Disneyland - Let's put it up in the foothills next to some of these new planned communities.

an In & Out Burger - Overrated. Why not a Mel's Diner?

the abolishment of "Right to Work" - Good luck with that.

a Democrat for Governer - They had been, from 1977 to 1995.

Larry Craigs final farewell party - Coming soon enough.

Wider bathroom stalls in the Men's Room to help prevent unsolicited advances when he retires - Current code is fine, I'm sure. Most people don't have this problem.

Or how about a real Mexican Restaurant - Plenty of them. My favorite - Pollo Rey.

Another big mall with Nordsroms and Neiman Marcus - Coming to Eagle soon enough.

More people, a wider freeway plus better public transportation - Happening as we speak. Every second that passes another Californian moves to Idaho.

Maybe NASCAR - See: Magic Valley Speedway.

maybe a big league baseball team - Not in our lifetime.

Or more car dealers - The only thing popping up faster than new homes and subdivisions.

Someone like Safeway, Vons or Raleys to compete with Albertsons - Winco is far superior to Albertsons already.

Perhaps the abolishment of sales tax on our food - Coupled with an increase in our state and/or property taxes!

The implication of Prop 13 - Not a fan.

but please, PLEASE I beg of you... NO MORE CALIFORNIANS' they keep trying to change everything - Personally I'm not worried about the change so much as just the sheer number of people.

You're right Anchor. In & Out may be a bit overrated, I would settle for Mel's. I like the Pics of them filming "Happy Days" at the one in San Francisco... As for Pollo Rey, I will give them a try. Thanks for the tip!

Calling Pollo Rey Mexican food is like calling McDonald's a quality burger joint. But if I had to pick a fake Mexican restaurant that I would like to see here it would be Chipolte. I'm really surprised that there isn't one on Eagle Road yet. For real Mexican food, Corona Village and Chapala's is not that bad. Compared to what I used to get in Arizona they are surprisingly close in taste and quality.

The valley is full of good Mexican restaurants which makes sense because of the large hispanic population -especially the further West in the metro you travel. I've heard many times that for the authentic food you have to venture into Nampa and Caldwell, but I've heard that some of the mexican eateries on Fairview are pretty good. I have stuck to the downtown area, Chapala's which is excellent, and Casa Mexico Casa Mexico Restaurants - Locations (broken link)
is good too, although I have only eaten at their location in Hyde Park.

In & Outs are overrated, just a stupid hamburger. I can get a better one at West Side Drive In.

The best Mexican joints are those that are housed in those trucks. Or Los Betos.

Try Baja Taco at Linder and Franklin in Meridian. The owner is from San Diego and their food is fantastic!

I can't understand the fascination with Chapala. Their food seems very average - but to each their own I guess. For what it's worth, my favorite Mexican restaurant around is Jalapeno's in Nampa. The grilled jalapenos there are awesome with pretty much any dish!

I've heard through the grapevine that El Rinconcito in Nampa is also very good - but I haven't been there yet.

I wouldn't mind seeing a really good wing place come to town though.
