Hi,

My wife and I are thinking about relocating to the Boise area some time this summer (2008). I am currently finishing up a teaching credential program at my university and am looking to find out some info about teaching in the Boise area. Does anyone know much about the process for someone like me? I currently live in California. I have my B.A. in History and have past all of California's required tests (CBEST/CSET). I do not know if these are acceptable in Idaho or if I would have to re-test. I would like to find out as much information as possible. We hope to leave by July and I would like to have some Idea of the process and the prospects for teaching jobs in the Boise area. Anyone out there with any info on this? We appreciate your help!

Make sure you have a job before you come - teaching jobs in Boise, especially History and English, are extremely hard to come by (if not impossible).

I would suggest a surrounding school system like Meridian. I heard just a couple of days ago that it is easier to get a job there than in Boise. Really the two cities run together.
You can't tell when you leave one and enter the other. We live in Boise and go to church in Meridian. There is also the Eagle schools, Nampa, and even Caldwell isn't too far.
