Hi All,
I was sent here by a friend under good recommendation. I am currently living in Yakima WA as my wife and I have just moved to the US and are currently staying with her family but we are trying to relocate to the Boise area as we have been researching it for the last year and like the look of the place, have heard many good things
Anyway, my wife has an interview next week for a good job in Boise and I have been looking for 2 weeks now on Monster, Indeed and linked in. I have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years experience, mainly in Automotive but with a few years in the Semiconductor industry. My most recent employer was Ford Motor Company.
However, most of the listings for Engineers I've seen so far in Boise are for heavy electrical bias which is not my area of expertise. I know Micron and HP are the two main players in the area and of course are Electrical bias by their nature, but a majority of the Engineer listings seem to be more programming and computer/software based whereas my education and background are more mechanical/physical product engineering from R&D through to production support. As a result I am stressing a bit that I won't find a job in the area. Can anyone let me know if it is likely there are any chances or places that my skillset would fit in the area?
I am willing to commute a reasonable distance, and have looked at surrounding areas including Nampa, Caldwell etc.
Many thanks, And I hope to be a Boise resident soon.
