Hi all, considering a possible relocation to Boise for a job. I'm a late-20s female looking to settle down and start a family in the next five years so I'd like to move somewhere where it'd be fairly easy to meet someone. I currently live in a much bigger city where there's quite a bit of dating options. I'm wondering, what is the dating scene in Boise like beyond college/early 20s folks? Is there much of a young professional scene in general?

If you're coming from a much bigger city I have to believe you'll be disappointed in the options. If there are only 10% as many people, there will only be 10% as many potential matches. You probably want to find the largest metro that meets all of your other needs. What is it about your current locale that you're considering moving?

Traffic, high cost of living where I'm at now. I'd like to be able to afford a home some day and live comfortably. Are most people in Boise married young?

According to this:

https://www.dailydot.com/irl/average...iage-by-state/

Idaho has the second youngest average age of marriage for men (26.2, behind Utah at 25.9). Most are in the 27 - 29 range, though, so not really a huge difference.

Traffic will be bad in any large city. Some are more affordable than others, though. Maybe Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Nashville, Las Vegas. If a city isn't up against an ocean or a mountain range it can spread out more and is usually more affordable. These are all in warmer climates. If you want colder maybe Chicago (though they're having extreme financial problems), Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Milwaukee.

I'm not trying to discourage you from Boise. I just wanted to point out that to some extent finding someone you're compatible with takes meeting a lot of potential people, and smaller cities have fewer potential people.

Good luck with whatever you decide

It's going to help if you're religious and can be set up through a church, or if you're enough of a fan of the outdoors to sign up for social groups that go on outings. Other than that it could be a tough slog for the reason already mentioned-- people marry young in Boise. I know some female ex co-workers in their mid/late 20s who are neither religious nor outdoorsy but are attractive and have their heads set on straight. They were constantly disappointed with their options. One of them gave up on online dating and gave me her username and password to one of the dating sites to show me what she had to deal with. I can understand where she's coming from now. She recently started dating a co-worker, which presents its own set of challenges. But at least she's happy now.

That said, Boise is up-and-coming in regards to a young professional scene. If you do move to the area, get involved with the primary YP group and maybe something could become of it professionally if not romantically.
