Default Boise Downtown- seeking info

Is there a downtown area in Boise, and is it nice? What are retail rates per square foot? Is it lively at night or on the weekends? Is there parking?

Default Boise

There is a small inner city with distant mountains in the background and one or two streets with outdoor cafes and a river than runs in the city where you can go tubing. Boise is a small, upcoming city (with 200-300 K people). The problem with Boise is there is nothing around it except for forests and rivers. But I liked Boise.

Downtown Boise Association - Welcome to Downtown Boise!
This is a link to Downtown Boise association....info on things like the Capital City Market, First Thursday and other general information. It is remarkably easy to drive in, walk around and yes, it is small! But it is a really nice area-hope this helps!

And desert. Mostly desert.

I wonder if people realize just how isolated Boise is. I mean, we're ~6 hours to Portland or Salt Lake City (give or take an hour). There isn't much in the meantime - some small towns, some modest sized towns, and a whole lotta desert and wilderness.

I think it is a catch 22. I don't think Boise would have a lot of what it has if it weren't so isolated. Then again...it is still isolated. lol If you have the money for frequent air travel or work for an airline the Boise Airport offers plenty of convenient flights to most major airports in the West and few eastward.

I'm fine with the isolation, personally.

I just don't think a lot of people, especially those from back east, realize just how large and empty the west can be.

Salt Lake is pretty isolated too, 6 hours to Boise, 7 hours to Denver, 6 hours to Las Vegas.

Downtown Boise is a gem. It is pretty vibrant for a smaller downtown and it is more active with more going on than some larger cities, including a few in the intermountain west area.
