I think any of the smaller outlying communities are good for horses. I have work with a lady that lives out in Kuna and she has horses and loves it out there..

Default How much land do you want?

It depends upon how much land you want and how much you intend to ride. There are pockets on homes with horses all over Boise and the Burbs ... with the exception of big subdivisions and the heart of downtown ... its seems like someone has horse property every couple of miles in any direction.

If you wany more land and more neighbors with horses .. stick to the outskirts of town - any town - boise, Meridian, Star, Eagle and Kuna. If you want areas in which to ride, I would go North between Eagle and Star or South between Meridian and Kuna.

Check out Google earth and you can clearly see where the propterties are with lots of space and horses.

Western Idaho, aka the Boise Valley aka the Treasure Valley is big horse country, so any area outside of the built up areas of the Boise Metro will be good for horses. The Owyhee area south of the city has a pretty good amount of wild horse herds and sometimes they can be adopted if and when they are rounded up.

Default Middleton

Check out Middleton. We used to live there and in our neighborhood we had: 2 jumpers (one across the street and one next door), drivers (down the street), lots of 4H clubs and also access to open BLM land. As a matter of fact, our 7 acre property is up for sale (has riding arena and other horse stuff). 26620 Gail Lane. Hope this helps.
