I lived in Homedale and it was terrible as well as Nampa and Caldwell for gangs and gang activity. A Very high number of illegal’s have taken over that part of the State and it is getting worse by the day. Anyone who says it is nice to live or retire in the Boise, Nampa, Caldwell area is living in la la land. I now live in Northern Idaho where it has gotten expensive but a safe place to live.

What, if anything, is there to protect us from Gang-like activity in Nampa? I know that in certain parts of California it is illegal to walk down the street in groups of 3 or more, etc.. Are there any such ordinances there in Nampa? How successful are neighborhood watch programs there? Are "suspected gang member" calls taken seriously? Are the Nampa police sufficiently staffed? Do people in Nampa take an active role in crime prevention or do they close their eyes and say "It's none of my business"? The shootings are getting worse in Nampa than they are where I live now!
I also noticed in the news that they never report a suspects race even though they have eye witnesses. Why is this? You would think that if the police are looking for a suspect, the news would report more than their height and the clothing they were wearing.
I really hope my experience is a peaceful one and I plan on doing my part when needed concerning the reporting of crime and suspicious activity and lending a helping hand when need be. I just hope everybody else does.
Idahoans: What say you?

You should be scared. I lived in that area for a number of years and it has slid downhill. I wouldn't live there if I were you.

Do you think you're different? Are you bulletproof? I wouldn't move there if I were you. I have seen firsthand what a 'little bit of' gangsta activity can lead to. I worked in the State pen at Corcoran CA for a while about 8-9 years ago. Couldn't take it more than a year.
Take an AK-47, or skip it. Leave them to their own. They will eventually destroy each other. Just not in our lifetime!

I moved here from California a couple of years ago. IMO, most of the posters here don't have a clue as to what real gang activity is.

I DO and I also know what happens if it takes root. I worked at Corcoran, as did my wife, and then she went on to three more years at CRC Norco.
If anyone lets these jerks get an inch, they will take all of the miles.

You have a defiant point middleoftheroad. This was an issue 10 years ago in the Boise ,Nampa, Caldwell area everyone said "OH, they are just wannabes" what's the difference wannabes turn into reality gang members. I moved here not far from the Sacramento,Ca area and saw small time gang activity. It started the same way in Sacramento, when gangs started coming from Los Angeles people said "they wasn't much , not too worry just wannabes"!!!!
I feel we need to see it starts small, then they start tagging!!! You have to do something before it's out of hand. If they know AMERICANS are not going to take it, they will not want the hassle.

Exactly. You have to support the local police in GETTING RID of these goofs, because if you don't get them BURIED at first infestation, they will take over the corner, then the street, then a couple of blocks, and.........you get the picture. I also lived near Sac for a while. Worked on Florin Rd, about three blocks from where those Asian punks took over the Good Guys, and killed all of the customers. Everyone in that area was going around saying "Well, they're just wanna-be's!" until that deadly day. Sac Police should have popped caps on every one of those no-respect jerks! The ones left standing were treated like big-sh*t heros in the penitentiary!

Please notice I said "most", not all. Don't take it personal. There is a difference.

Nothing personal taken. Some know what its like firsthand, others will wish they had.
