Default Best/worst apartment complexes?

I plan on coming to Boise in the next 3-6 months - anyone have any advice on renting an apartment. What complexes are the worst? I'm a 26 y/o single female, but since I live in New Orleans right now, I'm pretty much accustomed to crime!

Even though my mom lives here, I just don't want to get stuck in a place living next to THOSE people - you know, the ones who try to pack 6 people in a one bedroom apartment, cook skanky food and play mariachi music late into the night...

Tell me the places to steer clear of because I probably won't be able to visit many, if any, before renting!

Can't remember the name of it, but there's one on Nez Pierce you'll probably want to steer clear of.

There's that place in Garden City, almost to HP that the cops refer to as "felon flats". Its cheap, noisy, and I guess its filled with parolees.

Hmm. How refreshing to read this post...twinged with racism and laziness. You sound like a peachy girl

Stay away from any complex run by First Rate Property Management. They're horrible about repairs, and seem to be always looking for ways to screw tenants out of more money. Their contracts are written horribly, and the people working there either aren't smart enough to recognize where their contract contradicts what they tell you in person, or they just play dumb.

But, fortunately for the OP, I never heard mariachi music during two years in the apartment complex.

I may be a little late to the party but here is a website called apartmentratings.com that will give you some an idea of what people think of different places. My advice would be to look at places on the outskirts of downtown and avoid the suburbs. That's just my personal preference.

If I can add my .25 cents (adjusted for inflation). I'd agree with Bronco. This is a fairly good site and the input comes from ppl who already live in these places. Also: If anyone is moving to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, stay away from "Case & Associates" apartments. They've cornered the rental market here, are arrogant A-holes who treat their residents and employees like s--t! ...I know cuz I used to work and live at their properties.

Stay away from Chaparral Apartments,Sugar Pine and Roosevelt Townhomes. There isnt any staff on site because there is one apartment manager for 3 complexes!!! I recommend apartmentratings.com too!

I WOULD rent to any apartment complex run by HSC-Riverstone. I will never live in any apartment that isnt run by them! They are nice, actually care and take care of repairs! I am currently living in Mount Vernon apartments and I highly recommend it! They have re-done them and made them so nice! And I do not work for the company! I just am a very happy tenant!

Here is a link w/ photos!
