Default The Wind...seasonal?

So is Boise always windy or is it just a spring thing?

I think it's more of a Spring thing; storms blowing in and out. It's probably what allows our weather to change so quickly. I do notice a light breeze occasionally in the summer, which is welcoming when it's hot. What does everyone else think?

Compared to other parts of Idaho, Boise has very little wind. It seems like the only time that it is windy is when a cold front or a warm front is blowing through. Considering that Boise is a western city, it has a lot less wind than Phoenix, Vegas, Albuquerque and other cities. I used to live in New Mexico and it was considered a calm day if the wind was only blowing at 15 mph.

Even 30 miles away in Mountain Home it is considerably windier there than it is in Boise.

Hasn't been like this until the last 5 years or so, to my recollection. In my experience, since then, it has been a year round thing. Some friends of mine that moved here 4 years ago comment on it all the time.

It's not too bad but I was curious as I have never heard that Boise is windy. Anyhow, today was good so hopefully the nice weather will be here to stay.

Now the wind is starting to get on my nerves... I don't remember it being this windy as it's been this Spring. Let's hope the rest of the week sends the winds packing and allows the warmer weather to settle in.

We do get some good winds here in the summer - usually accompanied with a good storm. Back in the 70s and 80s, when Cloverdale Road and Ustick was still considered "the sticks" we would see a wall of brown coming in...DUST STORM! Some parts of town still experience this. When you see it coming, better close up the windows (and cover teh pool) - fast!
