If you look at other locations for this store exist this is somewhat of a big deal for Boise. I'm sure they probably won't do as well as they hoped at first but if they stick it out it should do well in the long run.

This store is going to be a big hit in Boise. Regardless of the national and local economy, this store will still do very well in an outdoor oriented city as Boise. There are a lot of people in Boise with $$$$ and they like to spend $$$$ on great outdoor gear. Downtown is busy and growing even in a bad economy and this store opening is a sure sign of even more progress yet to come to downtown Boise.

Yes, I think they'll do quite well, as our population continues to grow, I'm sure we'll be seeing more stores coming in the near future.

The cashier money handling job should apply to any bank or large store.

Well, I read in the LA Times of a semi-conductor in Michigan rapidly expanding because they work in the "green biz." So the idea is a good one. But from insider sources there is little hope for the Boise operation at this point...but...you never know.

Several companies have Boise on their shortlist for relocation which would bring in hundreds of new jobs, and several other companies have other areas of Idaho on their list too.
Maybe the good news is that since there are more people out of work in the Boise area that companies will relocate here because there is a pool of people to employ. Word is that several companies who looked at Boise in past years did not relocate here because the unemployment rate was so low that there were not many people who needed jobs, and they would have had a difficult time filling positions with good experienced people because those people all had jobs.
It is a different story now so the stars might be lining up for Boise.

Unemployment is high all over the U.S. Some cities in the U.S. are in worse shape than Boise, and some are doing better than Boise.
