Idaho is very, very white. But I have not seen or heard any racial animosity since I have moved here. I heard more racial slurs living in places like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.
Boise is also very generous when it comes to helping refugees out from other countries, so far I have met recent immigrants from Thailand, Bosnia and various African countries. Most of these people are being assisted by local churches.

Look here, this shows a breakdown of the demographics. I would say the same as micrguy, I don't notice any racial animosity here.

As far as culture goes, it seems like everything revolves around family activities. Lot's of sports leagues for kids, going camping, skiing, parks and similar activities. It's not very exciting, but I think that's why I enjoy living here and other people who are trying to get out of the rat race in other cities.

Idaho is 99.9% white. But I haven't heard anything from tehm being racist. Why do you ask? Idaho is beautiful. I f you want to move somewhere, move to either Idaho, Washington, Utah, or California.

I don't hear racial animosity in person, but if you read comments to the Statesman's stories, if it involves an hispanic doing a crime there's all sorts of vitriol.

It's great that 'immigrants" come here illegally and commit crimes. Who wouldn't love that.

Let's stay on topic...
North Idaho (which got a bad rap due to Richard Butler's Aryan Nation wackos) is 99.5% white, yet is an extremely racially tolerant place. A hispanic person doesn't raise eyebrows, neither does a black person. And an asian person is a downright novelty. Lots of cultural homogeny here, which is comfortable for everyone. Just good folks...

Its only an issue if you make it one. I came here to live in peace with all and that's what I've found. I've talked to people who have a chip on their shoulder or some adgenda and they can always conjur up something to gripe about.
It so much better here than back east or down south in my opinion
