Well my wife and I got here on Saturday. Went and had some Mexican for dinner (Chapala?). Being from Texas - we were a bit skeptical about Mexican food in Idaho, but it turns out it was pretty good.
![]() Sunday we drove out to Lucky Peak and just kept going. Drove along NF-377...til it turned to dirt road...then til it turned to snow covered patches of dirt road. Our goal was to drive to where it comes out below Idaho City. We got as far as Bald Mountain Rd. and there was a washed out portion of the road that we could have made it down (there was a drop-off of about a foot so it would have been jarring on our little Rav-4 rental) but if there was something further on preventing us from going on, we couldn't have made it back out. So we had to turn around and drive the hour and a half or so back into Boise. Still a beautiful drive. Parts of that area were on fire not too long ago. Lots of trees and hillsides burned. Some pictures from that trip: ![]() ![]() Today we went up to Table Rock, and I just have to say people amaze me. Boise has this beautiful landmark minutes from downtown, and it's littered with trash (not to mention the antennaes - but I guess they have to go somewhere?). One piece of trash that really got to me was a Polaroid box with the contents and 'extra stuff' in the box just thrown on the ground. Ironic - no? Bring a camera to take pictures of a beautiful area and throw your trash all over the ground. Also a styrofoam cup in one of the 'caves' laying on it's side with whatever was in it still seeping out. Probably compliments of the loud kids that were leaving as we got there. It's also saddening seeing the rocks just absolutely COVERED in graffiti and carvings. I just detest people sometimes, I swear. Not much interesting to show from today, especially since a lot of you have no doubt been there before, but here are some pictures from today (my ugly mug included): ![]() ![]() Anyway, tomorrow we're going white water rafting near Horseshoe Bend. The water will be freezing, but that makes it that much more fun...(challenging yourself is always good). ![]() Wednesday we fly to Couere d'Alene and then come back to Boise on Friday and back to (gag) Texas on Saturday. No plans in Couere d'Alene yet, but we'll find something to do (open to suggestions). Just thought I'd post...we still love it up here. ![]() Last edited by MissTheMountains; 05-05-2008 at 08:36 PM. |
