Please Tell me About NW Boise and the Collister Area (real estate, for sale)

Hi all --

Is anyone here familiar with the Collister area of NW Boise? Specifically the area from Bloom street (off Collister) up towards Johns Landing Way and Hill Rd? Is this a pretty good area to live in for someone who can't afford the North End but still wants to be somewhat close to town? Pros???? Cons??? Do you think this area would be a good long term investment?

Any and all comments appreciated! I'm seriously interested in a house in this area but I'm just nervous to make the right choice. The house was custom and it sits on a dead end culdesac and has a combination of a couple of nicer, bigger homes and then some homes in between that are smaller, but all pretty well kept up.

I'd love to hear what you know about this area and if you think it would be safe for a single girl! Thanks so much!

Hi-

I live off of Bloom on the west end, and really like the area. It's a very good location in terms of safety, convenience, value, etc.

Pros: in to city, safe, near foothills & Greenbelt, lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. within walking/biking distance, real estate value (vs. way overpriced north end), has much of what the north end has and is very close to it......




Cons: I really can't think of any, maybe more rental properties and less than ideal house upkeep, but certainly no worse than the north end, actually a bit better.



Bottom line: this is one of the best areas of the city, IMO.

The East Bench is still close to downtown, probably closer and I guarentee cheaper.

I live on Collister north of Hill and its a great place. I think there is one house for sale and zero for rent in or sub. My sister in law is a single mom and she lives off Johns landing same area as Bloom and she loves it. I grew up in this school district and can tell you it is probably the safest place to live but your pretty safe anywhere in Boise. Their aren't any con's I can think of except the deer eat our corn stalks Their is biking Hiking hunting Fishing Rafting everything! Close to every kind of shopping. If you prefer the social life I would recommend Hyde Park, Camelsback area.
Long term you cant go wrong w/North Boise.
