Has EMMETT improved ?
I was doing some searching and found this.
"Garden City has a real bad reputation in Boise. As far as I know the only place worse then Garden City is Emmett"
Does Emmett have some kind of hidden problem or something we should know about ?
Why do Emmett schools rate so low compared to Other towns ?
The area sure was pretty but not sure if we buy there or not?
Tell us all you can.

Thanks

Emmett is a nice little town, its not trashy or full of adult bookstores and strip clubs like Garden city. Schools might be lacking because it is in Gem County and last time I checked there were only 15,000 people in the whole county having emmett as the county seat... so schools might have to do with funding issues...

Hi,
IMO there is not comparison between Garden City and Emmett.
I go to Emmett very often and I love that little town, I feel there like home. People are nice and after a while you get to know them.
My husband is working there for years and I've never heard a negative thing about that place.
The only place I know where the cops stop and let you j walk.
I go there to pick cherries and find organic goodies that most people grow in their gardens.
Once famous for their orchards, now most extinct because of low value marketing... but still can find here and there something to pick.
If I had to buy a house, I would choose Emmett with no doubt.
Now depend of what you are looking for… Emmett is a rustic town… one supermarket, few gas stations and lots of little shops. The rest is farm land. There is no night life except few biker bars. I don’t remember to see a theater.
I don’t think the school is a problem, it’s all about the child, the parent and the values instated.
Sorry, they name it that way... the two white domes is what they call "The Dolly Parton High School"

What would the commute to downtown Boise be like from Emmett?

Someone may have a better guesstimate or actual commute but I'd say at the very least 45 minutes. In winter you could be looking at a VERY lengthy commute at rush hour. I use to have to take State Street (Hwy 44) into Boise and it was a painstakingly long commute with icy, snowy and even foggy roads.

I wonder how the comparison came about? Garden City and Emmett?
Emmett is probably one of the most picturesque small county towns you would ever come across, and it is in its own river valley with mountains and hills. The town has a nice little city center full of historic structures and has a nice neighborhood with quaint historic homes and churches and schools. And of course the cherry, apple, apricot, peach and the other endless ag products really set this little town apart.

Hey Desertryder,
Did you move to Emmett yet?
Question about the handle, I used to be a desert racer, District 37 AMA.
Just wondered if that was where your's came from?
