And if you live here currently and are looking for work, please feel free to post what type of job you are looking for and maybe a fellow poster can help you in your job search .

All of those are concerning except the Mervyns situation. I'm sure those folks will find jobs rather quickly.
I've been looking for jobs down here in Cali and up there. Neither place has come up with anything. Sadly the economy is bad everywhere. Some people will reply jobs are plentiful, etc etc but that doesn't really matter...Boise is a nice place but just like anywhere else you should only move if you have a firm job. Boise like most places right now is not an oasis of jobs.
ADDED: This doesn't paint a rosy picture for the mall or those employees:

Of course Idaho will be affected by what's going on in the economy nationally, but thank goodness we are diversified and haven't put all our eggs in one basket. Ask the people in Michigan what they think of their economy right now....I think most people would agree that Idaho is far better off. Just because there's no job growth doesn't mean there's no jobs. People move, get promoted etc., which creates openings.
As quickly as Ferguson started chirping the blues, he could just as easily change his tune back to crooning Idaho's good fortune, which is very evident when you start following the dates of the articles and predictions. Remember all the economists who forecasted a recession by the first half of 2008? Well instead of shrinking, the GDP was estimated at growing .9% in the first quarter and 1.9% in the second, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Yeah, I can't find a job down here in Cali. I've found a lot of openings but competition is out of control. I've had a harder time finding decent jobs in Boise and those that I have applied for haven't responded. So I assume competition is fierce there as well.

Just in the past week alone...4 people moved out of my apartment complex. 2 were moving out of Idaho, 2 were moving out of Boise.
I've been in Boise for over 2 months and only had 1 interview. I've applied for over 50 jobs--most I was overqualified for.
This is much more brutal than what I expected to find. Man what a different picture of the job situation I had back in March '08...

Yes, I would like to know that, too, because I have been jobless for 10 months now in the Bay Area and don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
Last fall I visited Boise, liked it a lot, and seriously considered moving there. I had quit my job here and was going to be looking for a new one whether it be in Boise or here. Based on the info at hand at the time, I finally decided that the Boise move was too risky without a job lined up. I was much more confident that I would find something here quickly, even if it had to be a temp job. I began my serious search here in mid-January and still have nothing to date! I’m signed up with several different temp agencies and at this point they don’t even return my phone calls or e-mails.
This is REAL bad – a tougher job search than I have ever experienced in my life. Part of me now thinks I made the wrong decision, but another part knows that I could have ended up the same way in Boise or anywhere else, for that matter.
