Corrections Corp. of America-Kuna
I have just started thinking about relocating from Kansas City, KS to Kuna to work at the privately-ran CCA Idaho Correctional Facility. Since this is the very start of this idea, I was wondering if any of you could fill me in on the city, recreational activities, working at CCA, housing, other employment in the area (for my wife-a credit analist for a pork company), climate, and overall satisfaction of living in the Kuna area. Thanks for your help!!! EIC

went to visit by buddy in Kuna last year.
Nice small town just far enuff from Boise to be good.
Saw some big houses on 5 acers that I really liked but kinda pricey.
Close to a nice lake that water skiing was looking good.
Saw a few nice houses on 1 acer parcels that were affordable.
Thats all I got for you.

Thanks
Desertryder-Do you know anything about Corrections Corporation of America, the company managing the jail there at Kuna? I've heard some good things and somw bad things about the company, but nothing about the Kuna jail. They have been running the jail there since 2000. Thanks. EIC

Didn't know that part of the jail was privately run. Interesting!
Kuna is a farm town that is slowly turning into a suburb of Boise. It's mostly agricultural and residential in nature. Most shopping and jobs will require traveling to nearby Meridian or Boise. It's a nice, quiet area where real estate prices are lower than the areas closer to Boise.
The jail itself is in the desert outside of Boise. Since there isn't housing in the immediate area, it will require a commute from either Kuna or Boise. I haven't heard anything bad about the jail in the press, but that doesn't mean much. The area surrounding the jail is mostly open and used for things like shooting ranges, dirt bike riding, etc.

Don't live in Kuna!! You will die of boredom and spend a fortune on gas going to Boise for even the basics

Kuna is growing issues to consider include proximity to the train tracks proximity to dairies also make sure you go at night as that's when they spray fields. It's still a vast improvement over other areas of the country.
