Lightbulb Relocation to Boise???

I'm considering relocating to Boise. I've followed their film industry vision on the web this past year. It's great. I've been involved with screenwriting for the last ten years and would like to become involved in some "behind-the-scenes" aspect of the industry if I relocate. Also like what they have accomplished in the downtown area. High desert/great climate/thriving metro area/film industry. Sounds too perfect. But, then, I have to consider I'm writing under the Western Oregon drizzle right now. Would appreciate any comments about Boise.

DSS,
You will be glad to know that there is a planned community in the works on the South East side of Boise that involves the film making community. A developer from California was quite impressed with the area and felt this would be a great location for a film studio complex. Called Idaho Studios at Bryans Run, this complex would include several film studios, warehouses, commissary, performing artscenter and four themed residential villages. The studio would also serve as a tourist destination. The develpor is hopeful to work with Boise State University in creating an internship program that teaches students the film industry and how to work behind the scenes. The 159 acre complex is due to break ground I believe in 2008. The planned community part would cover about 1500 acres.

Quite an exciting prospect that I think you would find interesting. I have an article on the project and could either email or send it to you if you'd like.

I've been in Boise for 4years now. I'm from CA, lived in Oregon, Washington and Colorado and can't be happier here. Long summer days and beautiful sunsets make it very appealing. I love the change of seasons here. Though the winter can be a little cold it has not been harsh. Average snowfall is 21 inches though that has only happened once since we have been here. The snow doesn't stay for long, but it sure is beautiful to have it on the mountains in the backdrop of the city.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can answer anymore questions for you. There is so much more I could tell you about this place, but it's late and I must go! Take care,
Torrie
