We will be moving to Mountain Home AFB area in May and we have a 7 year old son with Down Syndrome. I am wondering if anyone call tell us anythinig about the special need programs in the schools in Mountain Home or Boise areas. Or of any support groups we can contact in the area. Thank You so much for any help.

You also might want to post this in the Boise thread if you haven't already. It's separate from the rest of the Idaho threads for some reason. My college professors used to refer to it as the "State of Ada". Ha ha.

I lived in Boise for 20 years- there are many places out there, but this one is going to be your best bet to contact: Treasure Valley Down Syndrome Association Website

They will be able to find you the care you need.

SchoolLiaison is on a distinguished road
I'm sorry I didn't see this forum sooner, but for military families who may stumble on this site in the future, I wanted to let you know what services are available to help with school transition and special needs.

I am the School Liaison for Mountain Home AFB and am based at the Airman & Family Readiness Center. My primary role is to provide accurate information and referral for military families as they relate to school transistion issues and/or special needs resources. I have a working relationship with the local school district, charter schools and private schools in Mountain Home and the surrounding communities as well as helpful points of contact for homeschooling activity groups in Mountain Home.

Feel free to email me with any questions at robin.riger@mountainhome.af.mil or by phone: 208-828-2458
