Default A few more Boise questions...

What is your favorite supermarket?

Can you get good Sushi in Boise?

If house is listed for $300,000 for example, what can you expect to pay for it? Asking price? $290? $270? just curious

If you could live in any neighborhood other than the Northend, what would it be, where is it, and why?

Thank you so much. I'll be in Boise on Friday, and I am sooooo excited to see your city. I hope I love it as much as I think I will

1. Winco

2. i have not found good Sushi, yet. (But, I've only tried 3 places)

3. Eagle ... Nice small town feel ...close to foothhills, river and only 8 miles to Downtown.

4. Enjoy your visit!

Gimme,

Next to Costco, I like to shop at Winco because their prices seem to be the best. I do shop at Fred Meyer, but mainly out of convenience of it's location.

Sushi, I'm not a big Sushi fan, but I know some have posted on the Boise forum as to who has the best, so hopefully they will come back on here and let you know.

As far as houses go, what they're listed for and what you can get for them will vary from house to house based on the the seller's situation. If they recently bought the house and didn't have much equity in it, they probably won't have much wiggle room, as they're not going to sell their house for less than what they owe, which is why you might notice some homes to be listed higher than what the going rate is for the neighborhood. This isn't always the scenario you come across, but just something to keep in mind. It's kind of a case by case basis and each house has to be looked at by your agent to see possibly the history of the house and what might be going on with the pricing.

Have a wonderful trip and I hope you enjoy Boise!

One of my favorite supermakets is the Albertsons on State ant 17th St downtown, I live 5 blocks away, so it is convenient. My other favorite is the Boise Co-op because of the selection of local organic produce, locally raised grass fed meat, and the wine store. It is like a step up from Whole Foods but a more intimate place to shop. Winco is a nice place too when you are looking for bulk and value and I would recommend the downtown Winco over the store on Fairview Ave.

Sushi: there are a surprising amount of sushi restaurants in Boise and my favorites are=Happy Fish, Shige, Superb Sushi, all downtown, and there is also Satori Sushi at the bar in the Grove Hotel, they serve sushi Tuesdays through Fridays only and some people say it is the best place in the state for sushi. Outside of downtown I would recommend The Taven in Bown Crossing, Raw Sushi on Vista Ave, and Kyoto Japanese on Fairview. There are several other locations but I have not been to them but I have heard there is an excellent Sushi place in Eagle.

I live in the Northend and if I didn't I would want to live in the Eastend off of Warm Springs Avenue because it almost an extension of the Northend. Southeast Boise along Parkcenter Boulevard would be my next choice because of scenic value being so close to the Boise River and wildlife, there are several different neighborhoods in the Parkcenter area that are attractive, and this area is close to downtown.
There is also a nice area I would look into up on the central bench near downtown off of Vista Ave and in the Kootenai Street area.

I and my child used to love Fred Meyer as they had the kiddie center where they could play, but "graduation" happened and no longer able to use it..so much for a little bit of shopping in peace! Winco is good and Albertsons, I agree Albertsons on state is good because they have their salad bar.
Don't eat sushi so don't know
Boise bench is looking good for houses and house prices and they have lots of homes with a lot of character.
Meridian is nice for families looking for backyards to play in and good schools.

This is an area I'd love to live, too. Between Vista and Latah, and between Kootenai and almost up to Rose Hill. There are some nice little blocks south of Kootenai too, but they usually border on rundown areas.
