Job? Lookinf for a career job!!!
Trying to relocate to Boise, and looking for a job! I am a recent college graduate with a B.A. in psychology. Does anyone know of any companies or perhaps local jobs that may be hiring or of interest? Any info will be extremely appreciated!

I too am looking for work in Idaho! I have found that there are usually a good selection of jobs on both the Division of Human Resources website and the Department of Labor websites:
Current Openings - Div. of Human Resources
Idaho Department of Labor > Home
I also would try looking on USAJOBS I think its: usajobs.gov
And of course there is always Monster, Career Builder, LinkdIN and SimplyHired.
Good Luck in your job search, hopefully you will have better luck than I am having!

The Idaho Dept. of Labor is a good site for jobs. Boise is a networking city and less about hunting down a job on line. The web sites just do not list a lot of jobs in Boise, like they do in other cities, in other states. The best way of landing a job in Boise is to know someone who can get you hired ahead of the pack.

Most jobs I know of with your background are going to be state jobs, and there are quite a few openings
good luck

I understand there are many market research firms in the area also.
Depending on your area of concentration in your major (for example behavior or statistical analysis) you might look into that as well.
Keep in mind you will be competing with local grads from BSU for very few jobs right now. You might try to build on some specialized experience (like an internship or research project ) to put a focus on your job search. Look for a national Psych organization with a branch where you are now and in Boise and see if you can get an inside track on something.

Besides Boise State you're also competing with University of Idaho grads, but more importantly, with people moving from elsewhere that are taking jobs well below their experience level.
I'll be blunt about this: Boise is not a place to start a career.
There are board members that will testify to this, there are so many examples. I know so many college grads that are working at call centers or at restaurants trying to make something happen. Unless you're willing to work well below where you should be, unless you're able to start your own business, unless you have a book of contacts, and unless you're lucky, it's just so hard to start a career here, even in good economic times.
Personally, in our own firm, this past year alone we've turned down resumes from grads from Stanford, Yale, Virginia, Berkeley, et al. There's just so much more to it.
