Don't make it too hard on yourself. Idaho is a beautiful place too.
At least you'll be able to afford a burger and a quart of milk.
Think of the inland sea of rolling hills , Pine Tree's and Sage brush.
Cool summer evenings watching Dawg The bounty Hunter

It's a good thing.

jfbd6805 is on a distinguished road
Hey maui08
We just got here on Friday and I have to say it has been quite a bit cooler than expected. It has rained or drizzled at least once a day but the good news is twofold; beautiful flowers and trees are everwhere (even the gas stations near our hotel have flower pots next to the gas pumps!) and it is going to warm up the rest of this week.
We haven't done a whole lot of touristy things b/c we are focused on getting our house sorted first but we have driven around a bit and it has been great. We have also eaten out a couple times and all has been delicious and good service, etc.
If you are an ocean person this is going to be quite different. I am also a water lover and have lived in the southwestern desert for the past 3 years before moving here. You do adjust but you will always miss it. That's just the way its gonna be. Plus, Boise has the river and then there is Lucky Peak and also Payette river on way to MacCall so there is water around, just not crashing salty water!
Good luck and keep us posted on your house hunt.

If you really think you'll miss the ocean it will be tough.

I had a friend who has lived in Lahaina for a number of years now. He works a job that lays him off for three months of the year. He could never afford to buy a home there so every offseason he'd move back to the mainland looking for somewhere to settle down and build a home. Every spring he was back in Maui - he missed the beautiful days, the slower lifestyle, and most of all, being on the ocean. The closest he came to staying was a foray in Central California on the coast, but he couldn't find work there. He's done this for six years now.

He was a native to Boise but claimed he could never, ever move back after spending time in Lahaina.

Just another opinion to consider. Really weigh the pros and cons of each place, and how much each matter to you. The grass isn't always greener. Boise is a great place, no doubt, but it's a completely different life and world than Maui. Make sure you want to make that drastic change.
