I was just telling you the current situation since you have moved away from Kuna and I taught there the last year (2006). I have also taught in Boise and Meridian. About the drugs, yes kids choose to do them despite having other activities, however research has shown that they are less likely to do drugs if they are involved in meaningful activities within their community. And yes my kids at Kuna High often complained about not having anything to do. I taught 420+ kids and I heard this complaint often. There was a plan for a community center in Kuna and a sports complex, but I don’t believe it was approved. As far as resources, I would not have my kids in the Kuna school district; compared to other districts they spend very little money on their students due to a lack of tax payer’s money. As an example, my class had only one set of books, more precisely 30 books for all 420+ students. Not to mention all of the old equipment, outdated material and the lack of a curriculum for some subjects. But this is not only true for Kuna, I am sure all over the country we see similar situations. I am just stating the realities of the Kuna School District. However the community is growing and the bigger housing will sure bring more money to the district. There are planned communities and new subdivisions emerging all over Kuna, so this will greatly improve the financial situation and hopefully bring more activities and better resources to the kids and the schools in Kuna. Although I must say Kuna has a great 4H club with great kids who are very successful at what they do. In 2006 they won several competitions and put up a great AG expo. The KHS football and wrestling teams are also good and often win state tournaments.

Fab,
Glad you pointed this out, I did not know this about Kuna schools. Nice to know something on the inside.

This is why I chose to homeschool.
As a homeschooled household, my children were involved in many, many activities.
We had a wonderful homeschool support group.

My children were involved in Soccer, Basketball, track, art, and many other activities.

My oldest daughter scored in the top 3 percent in her ACT's, and was offered five scholarships to prominent Christian Universities.
