Looking at Boise on google earth, it looks like there is an open pit mine just on the edge of town, near southeast Boise. What are they mining? Anyone know the name of the company?
There is a lumber company, if I remember correctly, which has a large hole on their property, in the southeastern area of Boise between Federal Way and I-84.
There aren't any commercial mines anywhere near Boise. If you provide a link to the pit you are looking at, I'm sure someone can identify it. I lean toward the first reply; it is probably a sand and gravel pit.
