Looking for things to do for first visit
We are looking to relocate next year and want to plan our first visit there. We have a teen ager that isn't too excited about the area.
I would like to make our first visit a fun visit, more like a vacation. Looking to come sometime in August. Any suggestions on attractions or activities for teens would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Don't come in August - much too hot.
Come in September or October and take in a Bronco game.

take them floating down the river, or out to roaring springs water park, or rafting down the payette,
totally depends on when you are planning on coming... if it will be later in the year, a ski trip would be in order

There is a lot to do here in August, it can be hot but then you might be lucky and we will have a cooler August than normal as this Summer season so far has been the coolest we have had in years.
September is also a great month with city and arts festivals going on.

Thanks for the great replies.
I never would have thought of a Bronco's game, we would all enjoy that.
If you ask her what she enjoys, she would say shopping. She does like art festivals. She doesn't claim to enjoy lots of outdoor activity, but always has fun when we do them. I know we would enjoy the river activities.
Any other ideas? Could you recommend any shopping areas that teen girls like to go to? We are skiers, and will definitely make a winter trip as well.
Thanks for the responses, this site has been very helpful. Still don't have firm plans, will update when I do.

There are many coffeehouses to check out. I would recommend Flying M, Java and Dawson's--all downtown Boise. Flying M has a pretty funky gift shop with stuff your teen might dig. Your teen might like to shop at Dragonfly on Main and 4th. Take her to the Hyde Park area.
Floating the Boise river is total fun. Or, just walk the Greenbelt.
I can't say the main Boise Mall is the greatest I've been to. It's certainly useful. It has many of the popular chain stores. But the more interesting shopping is downtown.
