Default Are Those Boise Crime Stats Sites Correct??

I went to Idaho Statesman web site and clicked on crime stats. I was quite shocked at the number of residential burglaries in the Boise area. This is an interactive map. Click on burglaries.

Can I get some comments on that

I wouldn't say that burglaries in the Boise area are any higher than anywhere else. Burglary is largely a crime of opportunity. Remove your valuables from view, park your car in the garage, and/or lock your car. Those steps alone significantly reduce your chances of being a burglary victim.

Sometimes I think those maps make it look worse than it really is.....like TreasureValley50 says, a lot of those crimes could be prevented if people would keep their garages closed and cars locked. People in Boise have a tendancy to be too trusting because they feel safe, so they forget the basic tasks to protect themselves.

Yep. Drives me crazy when I hear people say "I never lock my doors" etc... As an officer called to take the theft or burglary report, it's tempting to turn and drive away upon hearing that. I'm not quite sure what planet they think they live on, but however small or "nice" the community there are thieves. Even in Idaho, which happens to be on Earth. Just a fact of life.
