Default thinking about moving back...help me out!

Before leaving 4 years ago we rode bikes everywhere, ate at Harry's a few nights a week, and loved the night skiing. Lived on 8th street in a funky, old arts and crafts house that I loved. We visited last year and my sense was a lot had changed in a few years, with a number of new residential and commercial developments on the north side. It also seemed like a lot of the older north end homes that had previously felt "rustic" and lived in- homey feeling-- seemed to have been renovated, remodeled, and doll house-d out if you know what I mean. The neighborhood sure felt and looked different. Comments?

Also, this time around I'd like to have more space, some animals, gardens, chickens, etc., so I'l wondering where in town you can still get an acre or so and be slightly off the beaten track without living way south or east of town. Thank you locals for your feedback!

You want to live in town and have an acre?

You should look into buying Simplot's old house.

North 8th hasn't really changed a whole lot.. It's still fairly granola, artsy, etc.. I'm sure any changes are subtle and thus not noticed by someone who has been here a long time... Yet, I know how it is to notice the little things after being a way a while.

As far as having a place with room to have animals/land and not be significantly south or east? Good luck. Southwest Boise would be your best bet, but it sounds like that's not the end of town you prefer. You might have some luck on the north end, but farther west than you're used to.. Somewhere off of Cartwright or Hill Road off the top of my head... That would at least keep you within artillery range of the traditional north Boise..
