Might be relocating to Boise in the near future. Can anybody tell me the base pay for a Rn AND LVN/LPN in the Boise area. Any information is appreciated!
Please get your RN! I have been an LPN for 10 yrs, only planned on that being temporary and then was going to get my RN. Life and money gets in the way. I have my Associates Degree. You can be an RN with an Associates also is which I recommend and work while obtaining your bachelor if you want. RN's job opportunity is much better. LPN's are being phased out in a lot of states or are reduced to working in nursing homes, psych clinics, or home health. If you are lucky you can get an office job, but the pay will be less . LPN's make between $14-$19/hr and RN's $19-$30 dependant on specialty.
We've had the opposite experience in SE Idaho - LPN jobs are much more plentiful than RN jobs. Since most large towns only have one hospital (and usually are not hiring in bulk), the smaller units (clinics, etc.) are hiring LPNs to keep costs down.
G' Luck, Nevada1427!
