What's 2-4 hours away from Boise? (Staycation Ideas) (Twin Falls, Ketchum: hotel, getaway)

Got a day off at the last minute which means I have a few days to explore the area outside of Boise. I want to find a quiet place to write... possibly an inexpensive hotel/motel with a desk... and maybe a small town where I could walk around.
Can anyone recommend a few spots? I've heard good things about Idaho City, Twin Falls and Baker City...
In my opinion, Twin Falls or Baker wouldn't qualify as "getaway" locations.. Idaho City, Stanley, Lowman, Sun Valley/Ketchum would all be nice little towns to relax and write in. Nice scenery, quiet, nice drive on the way. McCall would be good too. The other direction, there is Jackpot or Winnemuca Nevada if you want to lose a few bucks while you're away. Enjoy.
There are a lot of very obscure places within 4 hours of Boise.
