We are visiting in July to see overall the living lifestyle. Anywhere in particular that would welcome families? What are some areas that are tuned into family atmosphere? Anything going on for July 4th? We are looking for possible move there. Can any residents explain the lifestyle, weather, economy that is current?

Use the search function, most of the topics you are curious about have been talked about in great detail. Then if you still have questions most of the people on the Boise forum page are more than welcome to help you out.

July 4th is a pretty big holiday here. I've lived all over the place and have never seen any other city that takes the holiday so seriously. The morning of July 5th looks like a war zone from all of the smoke left over from the fireworks. It is pretty much non-stop explosions and fireworks all day and all night. If you are bringing an animal, make sure that they are tied up well or in a kennel that day or they will get spooked. Every street corner will have at least one fireworks vendor set up, so feel free to stock up and join the rest of us in blowing stuff up.

Yes, definitely use the search function to answer some of your questions, then give us more specific ones so we can provide better answers.
And while I'm not a moderator, I think I'm safe to say please don't open new threads to ask the same questions. You already have a thread asking about Boise & a July visit. There's really no need for multiple threads on the same question.

I used to live in Boise area but relocated to east coast. Boise (Treasure Valley) is a high desert with around 11" of precipitation annually. Irrigation is a must since it's extremely dry. Boise is the most isolated large city in the U.S. and is approx. 6 hours from any other large city - SLC, Spokane, Seattle, Portland, etc. If you like desolate, you will love Boise.
I found the people friendly (in spite of what you might hear about religious differences) and the cost of living relatively low. Real estate taxes are half of what I am paying out east. Traffic is light compared to other large metro areas.
What I liked - BODO, proximity to mountains, skiing, outdoor activities. What I didn't like - My family lived somewhere else.

Economy - well, housing is in the toilet. My house sold for $87,000 less than what I paid and I know others in the same boat.

I moved to Boise from a larger city earlier this decade and agree it is isolated but because Boise is the largest city for miles around it offers more than people would think for a city this size. Boise offers as much as SLC and def more than Spokane, but if you want more shopping then head to Seattle or Portland. I think SLC is just as isolated as Boise, from SLC you have to travel 6 hours to the next largest city, Boise or the same to Denver or Las Vegas.

I know that Boise looks a bit like Anchorage, Alaska to me, a bit unexpected. I know the weather can't be to terrible because there are multiple hot air balloon companies down there and wind and rain don't foster that sort of industry as I have a hot air balloon company in the Lewis and Clark Valley, which gets 12 inches of rain per year and 4 year-round golf courses. Haven't heard to much negative comments surrounding the area. Aside from all the outdoor recreation available, Boise State University certainly takes pride in their football program so that likely reflects on the people in the vicinity being sports fans and generally active individuals as is much of the rest of the state of Idaho.
