I don't know if it jives with the books you mentioned, but my favorite series is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. It has a little bit of everything: romance, time travel, historical characters, adventures on the high seas, colony life, witchcraft, voodoo, a little of the supernatural stuff woven in. There are so many different facets to the series that bookstores and libraries don't know how to categorize them. Sometimes they are in romance (though it is NOT a traditional romance novel), sometimes in Fiction, and I've even seen them in the sci-fi section. They are big books, but I have re-read them too many times to count and I always find that I've missed something. Great series!

I loved the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke. It's YA fiction, but I liked it more than my daughter.

My favorite series would be A Game Of Thones. George R.R Martin. I just hate that it's only 5 books.

I'm a history buff so I would have to say that "The Savannah Quartet" by Eugenia Price is my favorite. Her books brought the South alive so much that I visited the Georgia Coast for the first time. Even visited Eugenia's grave site where some of the characters from her books are burried.
