I don't know how many...but yes, I've read several books because they were recommended here. Usually I've liked other books a person recommends & am willing to try another title they like.
A Child Called It & The Lost Boy by David Peltzer are the only 2 that really come to my mind. And it wasn't really on a recommendation. I heard David Peltzer speak at the youth conference at MTSU 1 year & then found his books. This guy is amazing. After everything he went through as a child & continues to go through today. I LOVE this guy. And if I had to recommend only 1 author to read it would be him..
Now there have been others that I've read because friends who know me have said I'd like them & usually they've been right but not many & none that immediately come to mind. Mostly we used to exchange books in elementry & high school. If someone got a book someone else wanted to read then we'd lend them out & pass them around. And I've recieved a few books as gifts that I've read & liked.
Maybe 10% will be books that have been specifically recommended. I'm now reading Jane Jacobs' "Economy of Cities", based on a recommendation in this forum. A few days ago I recommended it to someone else, and now she is reading it, too.
Several, I love the what are you reading now thread, I've gotten lots of ideas for books there.
The best tip--Kristen Lavransdatter, which was great because it is a trilogy and was nice and loooooong. That one kept me busy for a while.
Also Life of Pi was recommended by someone here, just read that.
I love to read, and love suggestions. Usually I write them down and check amazon for summaries and reviews.
