Books on the return of the Jews to Palestine (fiction, library, historical)

I am looking for good books,preferably non fiction but quality historical fiction might be OK,about the Jewish return to Palestine in the decades leading up to the creation of the state of Israel. I am currently reading The Haj by Leon Uris and was looking for more along these lines.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Exodus 1947 by Ruth Gruber (Easy reading)

There are other good ones maybe someone can give you the name of concerning the Balfour Declaration (British Parliament grants part of their holdings in the Ottoman Empire for establishment of Israel, Jordan, and the other unbordered Arab territories for statehood), and those regarding the ships that were declined entrance around the world to Jews after WWII.

A Peace to End All Peace: The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle Eastby David Fromkin.

This is a superb introduction to the era and events which allowed the Zionist project to gain momentum.
