thanks for lettin me know this i did find it surprising that such an obvious mistake could have been made by JKR.

although i feel that it could have probably been explained better if it has managed to confused more than me

I was vindicated thinking Snape was a true Hero ( he was always one of my favourite character with Neville and Luna) and that he had been in love with Lily ( I had some heated arguments and discussions with friends about this who thought he was Voldemort's right-hand), which I had always suspected and though Dumbledore was dead I was sure he would come back somehow, which he did...

I hated the last chapter though, frothy, trite and quite out of character. I expected better than that and just hope JK Rowling does not use this as away to write HP the next generation. That chapter just cheapened the whole book and was a "Hollywood" ending to a very British book.

Still a well written book but like her last 3 books could have improved with a lot of editing IMO. All of them were a bit too long and verbose I felt.

I was very sad when Dobby died and found the scene where Harry dug his grave and subsequent funeral lovely. And who knew Kreacher would become such a domesticated Elf, making steak and kidney pudding and joining in the final battle...

We all know that there had to be deaths of people close to Harry to make the book interesting... But does anybody else say in there head : why did Fred have to die? Or Dobby? Or Tonks I mean come on she just had a new baby! I basacally said that about every good character that died.

Oh and what about this Draco junk? HE ALMOST ACTED LIKE HE WAS SORRY! Was he or not? I need more to the end of the book then Teddy snogging and Harry Ron Hermione and Ginny sending their kids of to Hogwarts. Anybody else?

Draco used the Expelliarmus charm on Dumbledore, so I think that is how the Elder Wand became Draco's. I'm not sure about this, but maybe since Dumbledore died before he could defend himself, the wand considered Draco the new master.

How did I miss this thread before??

I'm a HUGE Harry Potter freak, I mean fan

I re-read the whole series this past summer before the release of DH. I really liked Deathly Hallows. Not my favorite (that title still belongs to Prisoner of Azkaban), but it was great. I loved the story of the Deathly Hallows, even though it was a bit rushed, I liked how it tied everything in from the previous books.

I really thought Harry dying was a possibility, and almost died myself when I was reading that chapter when he was going in to the forest. But I'm glad he didnt. I love Harry, he's my absolute favorite character. Love him! And speaking of characters, Snape. Wow. His death was the most shocking for me. I was not expecting that. I think His was the only death I actually cried over (besides when I thought Harry was going to die). It was very sad.. especially of course fueled by the following chapter of how he was in-love with Lily and everything. Very sad.

There were somethings that I didnt like.. like Neville not being the one to kill Bellatrix. And all the romance crap between Ron and Hermione (I'm still a H/Hr shipper). But overall I really enjoyed the book, and I want to re-read it again and take in all the details.. I read it in 2 days, the fastest I've ever read anything lol.

im a bit confussed. myself and my friend both agreed that voldemort killed himself when we were discussing it.

if his curse bounced back then he killed himself.

is any one else under this impression? i thot it was a good twist for that to happen rather than harry killing him which would have been far far to predictable.
Yeah I think that was the point. If Harry had killed him then Harry's soul would have split, and JK was very careful about that. Harry's soul remained pure. Though I think I would've prefered Harry to have used Avada Kedavra.

I am really glad I found this thread...I am re-reading right now. I've read DH (it took a day and a half) and loved it! Almost my favorite book (Goblet of Fire is mine) because of the Ron and Hermoine romance. I've seen that from the very beginning when they met on the train. She was always more sisterly to Harry than Ron...she could easily hug Harry and not Ron. As a Ron and Hermoine supporter, I was in absolute heaven reading the epilogue and saw they were married...

The bad part about reading the book in so quick a time is I now have to re-read one more time, a bit slower, in case I forgot some stuff, which I am sure I did. I read 5, 6, and 7 all too quickly so am now reading Order of the Phoenix. What a great series!

This is the absolute best book I have ever read!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone read it faster than I did (7 1/2 hours), I praise thee. I agree with most of you, that Harry killing Voldemort would have been way too predictable, but I probably would have preferred it.
