I have a sony eReader. I love it, the ebooks are worth it if you are always reading multiple books or are in school. I would stay away from the kindle, amazon is very picky about the content that goes on them. I suggest the nook from B&N.

Default Kindle picky about content

My father and I have been researching E-readers and the Kindle is picky. There was a lot of free content you couldn't access. I believe library e-books were not allowed. Definitely double check with local library before purchasing a Kindle.

We liked the Barnes and Noble Nook 3g because he wouldn't have get internet or wireless connection, and it works where ever a cell phone does.

Like what? Most free sites I know of like Gutenberg, Archive.org, Smashwords or ManyBooks.net all provide a Kindle download option. The only one I can think of which doesn't is Google eBooks but they are still pretty new and that could change.

LOL for about the 5th time, Amazon have announced that they are introducing library ebook support later this year. They are working with Overdrive which should mean any libraries using Overdrive will be compatible with Kindle.

So does the Kindle 3G

"later this year" does not help someone looking for that option now.

I'm not sure why you are so defensive on that issue. It is a fact that right now, that is not available on the Kindle. It's simply information. All the eReaders have pros and cons. Currently, that is a "con" for anyone wanting that option.

I guess if you're that impatient, sure. But there might be people out there who would be willing to wait only 3-6 months for that feature.

I'm just letting people know what's on the horizon. Plenty of people will wait on the next model of something to come out because they know it will have a feature they want. This is not much different. I just think people should have all their facts right before making a decision. I'm sorry if that bothers you but I think it's just good buying sense.

Nothing at all wrong with saying what is on the horizon. My only "issue" is that you continually want to argue with anyone saying that it is a concern if people want to use library books. Some people (not all) are looking to purchase something to use now. Not "later this year" but for travel and use now. I think it's only fair to be honest about what is truly available now. As I said, I have a friend who works in the library and says this is a n ongoing issue. People purchasing a Kindle and going in and finding out that it doesn't provide the access they expected.

What is "good buying sense" is being aware of what you are purchasing - including both limitations or "upcoming" availability.

What is your library like with ebooks? The ones I have checked all had limited number of books available and long wait list.

I prefer auditory reading. Look at the victor reader stream, or the milestone. VictorReader Stream MP3 Daisy Player - HumanWare USA
Products Milestone 312
