I finally "finished" that short book Things We Set on Fire. About halfway through, it felt a bit soap opera-ish. By three-quarters through, I wanted to set the book on fire. But it was on my Kindle, so I didn't. I just didn't bother finishing it. Oh, well.
I forgot how much I love Heinlein. A very profound book about government and the military, and I'm not even sure how the movie came from the book, I would imagine he would be very disappointed.
"The Puppet Masters" was another classic Heinlein novel made into a movie, in which, as I recall, an elderly Donald Sutherland sort of played himself, making a haphazard effort to match the plot. A Lovably refreshing comeback for Sutherland.

So it was aptly named?
I finished "Anne of the Island" the night before last and started Sharyn McCrumb's "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" last night. I may have read it before, but am not sure if it was this one or another one of McCrumb's with the character Nora Bonesteel in it.
I am reading The Butterfly Sisters by Amy Gail Hansen. It's a murder mystery and I'm only a few chapters in and can't put it down, very good book so far!
I saw the movie, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I cried a lot. I'll be interested in finding out what you have to say about the book.
I liked the book even though it got bashed in the reviews. Here is my review for the book:
I gave it a 4 out of 5 for a "story". Yes this was a very simplistic story about a very naive boy from Germany during WWII but I still enjoyed the book. I have read other books about the Holocaust and this one does not touch on the horrors of what really went on. In the book Bruno's father is promoted to Commandant at Auschwitz. Nine year old Bruno and his family move next to the camp. Bruno has one friend there who is on the other side of the fence and wears striped pajamas. It is the story of their friendship and the naivety of Bruno as he is clueless about what is really happening on the world around him.
well picking up "the age of miracles " and "the snow queen" and I hope I enjoy both of them . Has anyone read any of these two books ? please let me know what you thought of them ? thanks .
