As a 50 year old man I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm reading the sixth installment of the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Claire called City of Heavenly Fire. I blame my ex on getting me hooked on these damn things, but I really do enjoy them. 18% in, and it's just as good as I expected it to be!
Don't be embarrassed. All of us here are tickled to death to find an author we enjoy. It does not matter what the genre is and the sex/age of the reader should never keep a reader from reading.
Tell your guy pals that the Mortal Instruments series is about US Marines in the Middle East.

I've never read that series, but saw the movie and can tell that I would like them. Nearing 50 and will admit to loving Harry Potter AND the Twilight books.
Judge away!!!

Consider this a bump for a wonderful author.
I read The Passage and enjoyed it. Right now I am leaning towards shorted or quicker reads so I will have to wait to read The Twelve

At the 90% mark on the 3rd book - don't want it to end!!
Will start looking for Books 4 - 10 freebies
I'm about a 1/4 way into Defending Jacob by William Landay. Three different and unconnected people told me it was fantastic but I'm not feeling it yet. I'm actually having a hard time sticking with it.
Before that I read The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina HenrÃquez which I loved until the very end when I thought it dragged a bit. But totally worth a read.
I am not being too successful with my next book choice.
I started Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. My stepdaughter loaned it to me awhile ago and I was in between books. Then yesterday I took my granddaughter to the Summer Reading program at my library and we got the Flipped DVD. We watched it last night and now I have no desire to read it
Then I was going to read The Other Story by Tatiana de Rosnay and then I read the reviews. I have to pass.
Next up I was going to read Conspiracies (Repairman Jack #3) by F. Paul Wilson but now I'm not sure if I need to read that series in order.
Soo….now I think I will give The Collector by Nora Roberts a try. Hopefully that one will click

Sounds like you are going through the reading circle like me and it seems like any book I pick up I hate here lately ..I guess we all go through this crap every once and a while .
