Pinetreelover and tigerlily, regarding A Gentleman in Moscow.

1. I'm at 27% now. Still loving it. Where are you gals at?
2. Is it just me (an editor) being picky, or does it also make you wonder (aka bother the hell out of you) why Towles keeps using ellipses (...) instead of periods? Sometimes (rarely) it's warranted but sometimes (most often) it's not.

Dawn,

I'm only at 17%, but still loving it as well. The ellipses haven't really bothered me. They seem sort of consistent with the Count - as if his thoughts just trail off rather than conclude.

That's a good point for the Count, but Towles does it elsewhere too, such as in the dialogue of other characters. (Unwarranted ellipses bug me... It's a minor complaint, though. I love the book.)

I loved It. I read it probably 25 years ago and Pennywise scared the crap out of me. For months after reading it I couldn't stand to have my legs dangle from the bed. I kept imagining Pennywise waiting to pull me under. He was truly the spookiest of SK's characters and every time I hear anything about the strange clown sightings I get creeped out!

I've discovered the Kellermans recently, and have been favorably impressed. Currently working on When the Bough Breaks, which will be my third work featuring Alex Delaware. But I have a lot of appreciation for the Decker/Lazarus stories as well -- in no small part because a Gentile who grew up in a small town doesn't get much opportunity to learn about the diversity within Judaism.

Read this a few years ago and LOVED it! Ending up reading parts of it out loud to my husband on a car trip because he couldn't stand the curiosity when I was laughing out loud.
