I started So Much Pretty this morning and I just finished it. It's one of the perks of being retired. I can read as much as I want to.

Well, this is truly a good book. I could not put it down. The character development is excellent. I feel like I know all these people.

I highly recommend it.

About to dig into Michael Odaantje's "Anil's Ghost"

Just finished Lionel Shriver's "So Much For That", which I liked more and more as I worked my way through it. A very rewarding read.

I did start The Wind Through the Keyhole by King. It kept staring at me. It's not as thick as his other books - in fact, a mighty thin book for King at 300 pages. I'm up to page 80 and I'd say that so far my impression is that it would be a book for people who really, really, really want to read any story in the Dark Tower series. The beginning feels awkward as though King didn't know how to segue into a story he had already written to completion and so far, I've felt no compulsion to keep reading. I will finish it as I am familiar with the characters from the previous books, but it doesn't seem so far to have much to offer anyone unfamiliar with the characters and storyline.

Currently reading Code to Joy. I've read nothing but positive reviews -- I hope it helps me unload a lot of mental baggage.

Y'know what? I got bored. It feels like the same story that I've read a dozen times before -- war time, strife, sadness, reunion, other stuff happens, happiness. I'm just not in the mood for this book, obviously.

ETA: Oh, and the switch between present tense and past tense, though I understand WHY, is bugging me.

I picked it up at the library and yep I agree with you I put it down after three chapters and said yep this is bugging me with the switching like tv shows do when they switch back and forth and yeah I agree probably not the best book for me either and for some reason I am loving the street sweeper and am already in the third chapter of that one . I will let you know when I finish it how I liked it . I will say one thing it is different from what I have been reading . I will let everyone know and i will post here . take care and better luck on the reading scale . take care .

Oh, one more comment about "So Much for That" by Lionel Shriver. I knew Lionel is a woman, but amazingly, I kept forgetting through the book that it was not written by a male author. Very few women writers can fool me like that.
