Bronx Primitive by Kate Simon.
It's an immigrant memoir, up until she's 13.
It's a small book but a big story. Very, very good ... and a 99-cent Goodwill find.
I just finished The Taste of Salt by Martha Southgate. It was a quick and enjoyable read.
Just downloaded Two or Three Things I Know For Sure by Dorothy Allison. I'm starting it tonight.

Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage by Alice Munro... because netwit told me to read it. Well, she suggested Alice Munro and I found this one at Goodwill last week. Just a few pages in, and I definitely like the writing. I don't think these nine stories are interlinked, but I've got a ton of work and I kind of like the fact that I don't have to keep track and remember what's going on in my leisure reading.
I always believed her to be one of the world's best stage actresses. She was married to George C. Scott twice so I'm certain she was a tough cookie and a very strong woman. I'm really looking forward to reading what she had to say.
I know some of you are struggling through the classics, which are what I tend to prefer to read, myself, but for a light, and super enjoyable read, try Wendy and the Lost Boys by Barbara Silkstone (but don't confuse it with the biography of Wendy Wasserstein by the same name.) Barbara's book is a humorous, mystery/thriller and just a little bit chicklit. I confess that she's an acquaintance of mine but I'd never suggest anything here that wasn't a good read. The book is hysterical...and the download is only 99 cents.
