I gotta finish "Life of Pi" before I find the next book to read. Otherwise, I'll just forget about poor Pi and I won't know what happens to him.

That's manipulative! I like that!

Enjoy Pi. I hope.

Anything in particular to get started with in regards to Jhumpa Lahiri? Shame to see Meyer on the list. Yes, her books have sold but a broken Edgar Wallace Wheel could write better and her female protagonist is a vacuous caricature of every anti-female stereotype out there.

I haven't read her novel -- I've no interest -- but Interpreter of Maladies and Unaccustomed Earth (both of which are collections of short stories) were EXCELLENT. I read Interpreter of Maladies first, but it makes no difference which you choose. The last half (the last three stories of Unaccustomed Earth was outstanding.

By all means stick with Pi until you finish it. The ending is very surprising. I will never forget it.

But read Lahiri's short stories that Dawn mentioned. She's the one who turned me on to this author and I always read the books that she recommends. They are probably the best I have ever read and I usually do not like short stores but these are so very good.
